Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English Literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell started her job as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News a year later. Since 1981 she started reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for the congressional section. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has been as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She served as a panelist in the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her contribution to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell worked in for the White House first for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during the time of Ronald Reagan's two term as president. Mitchell covered a range of important stories like arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra saga. She traveled extensively in the company of the president Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
